Whispers of Wolves
They were here first.
The street dogs of Goa are not a problem to be solved. They are a community to be understood.
What Whispers is
Whispers of Wolves began with a single dog on the road outside Vanantara. She had a wound that needed attention. We gave it. She stayed. Others came.
What started as individual acts of care became something more deliberate: a commitment to the street dogs of South Goa that goes beyond feeding and rescue.
We believe that how a community treats its animals reflects something essential about how it treats its most vulnerable. Whispers is our attempt to act on that belief.
"Every dog on the street has a name we haven't learned yet."
The work
Rescue & Care
We respond to injured, sick, and distressed animals in South Goa. We do not have a shelter. We work with a network of fosters, vets, and volunteers to care for animals where they are.
Sterilisation
We run and support CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) programmes in partnership with local veterinary teams. Humane population management, done with care.
Community Education
We work with local families, guesthouses, and businesses to build understanding: about coexistence, about the law, about what it means to share space with animals.
Advocacy
We document cases of cruelty and neglect, support legal action where appropriate, and work to shift the culture around street animals in Goa, one conversation at a time.
How to help
Volunteer
If you are in Goa and want to help, with feeding runs, transport, fostering, or vet visits, write to us. We will find a way to use your time well.
Foster
We are always looking for temporary homes for animals recovering from injury or surgery. Even two weeks makes a difference.
Support
Funding goes directly to veterinary care, sterilisation, feeding, and urgent treatment. Every rupee reaches an animal.
Spread the word
Share our work. Talk about coexistence. Change the conversation in your guesthouse, your neighbourhood, your community.
Get in touch
Every act of care counts.
Whether you want to volunteer, foster, donate, or simply know more, write to us. We will write back.
